ETIAS Spain Requirements for Bosnia & Herzegovina citizens
Apply ETIAS from Bosnia and HerzegovinaStarting from 2026, the ETIAS will be a mandatory requirement for citizens of more than 50 non-EU countries visiting Spain and any of the Schengen Area member states. Since Bosnia and Herzegovina is not yet an EU member state, this requirement will also apply to its citizens.
ETIAS stands for European Travel Information and Authorization System and it is a visa waiver that will allow the Schengen States to strengthen security and increase the safety of nationals and visitors.
Travelling to Spain from Bosnia and Herzegovina with an ETIAS
Nationals of Bosnia and Herzegovina are currently able to visit Spain for short-term trips with just a valid passport. However, with the launch of the ETIAS, they will need to possess the visa waiver to be permitted entry into Spain.
With the ETIAS, visitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina will be able to enter Spain via land, air, or sea. The ETIAS is not a visa and does not replace one. The visa waiver will be necessary for any travel purpose, including tourism, business, and short-term study.
Travellers may check the Spain travel information for useful details regarding the country such as geography, health and security details, climate, and transportation.
How long is the ETIAS valid for Bosnian nationals?
For citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the ETIAS will have a validity of 3 years or until the passport expires.
Travellers will be allowed to spend up to 90 days within a 180-day period in Spain. The ETIAS will not be country-specific, so a single document will be enough to visit any of the Schengen Area member countries. Travellers may enter any Schengen Area state multiple times within the 3 years of the visa waiver validity, making sure they respect the permitted stay.

ETIAS application for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina
The ETIAS Spain application for Bosnia and Herzegovina citizens will be available entirely online and will have minimum requirements. In their online application, Bosnian travellers will need to provide the following:
- Applicant’s personal details: full name, gender, date of birth, nationality
- Passport details: document number, issuing country and date, expiry date
- Contact details: home address, phone number, email address
- Travel plans: the first Schengen country that the traveller from Bosnia will visit
- Security questions: employment history, criminal history, past European travel details
All the information provided in the application form must be correct to avoid delays in processing the ETIAS. The ETIAS processing time is between 24 and 48 hours, but travellers from Bosnia are encouraged to apply at least 72 hours prior to departure to ensure they receive their ETIAS on time.
ETIAS Spain applications go through an automatic check against a series of security databases, allowing for a quick processing time. In the rare cases when this automatic check flags any potential security threat in the application, manual processing will be necessary, which may take longer.
All communications related to the status of the ETIAS application will be sent via email, which is why it is extremely important to provide a valid email address. This also will also make the online application from Bosnia and Herzegovina much easier.
