ETIAS Spain Requirements for Honduran Citizens

Nationals of Honduras can currently travel to Spain for business trips, tourism and transit without applying for a visa. Hondurans can stay in Spain for up to 90 consecutive days. Upon arrival, they need to present a valid passport.

Honduras and Spain have a visa waiver agreement which allows Hondurans to visit Spain without the need to get a visa at an embassy or consulate. Furthermore, the visa waiver agreement extends to the rest of the Schengen Area.

Toward the end of 2022, however, Honduran nationals will be required to obtain the ETIAS visa waiver to travel to and within Schengen member countries, which include Spain.

What is ETIAS? ETIAS is a travel authorisation being developed by the European Union.
ETIAS stands for European Travel Information and Authorisation System.One of the objectives of this visa waiver is to improve the EU’s border security, and fight against terrorism.

Hondurans will be required to apply for an ETIAS to visit Spain when it becomes available toward the end of 2022.

Traveling to Spain from Honduras with an ETIAS

Once ETIAS is officially launched, Hondurans who wish to visit Spain will need to register online to obtain an ETIAS Spain travel authorisation.

Children under 18 years of age must also get their ETIAS visa waiver. Parents and legal guardians are able to fill out the ETIAS Spain online form on behalf of their underage children.

The ETIAS Spain travel authorisation is not a visa. It is an easy-to-obtain entry requirement for all travelers holding a passport from a visa waiver country such as Honduras.

ETIAS requirements to visit Spain from Honduras

The ETIAS Spain requirements for Hondurans are straightforward.

Before filling out the online application form, Honduran citizens should make sure that they have a valid passport, email address and debit or credit card.

Upon arrival in Europe, ETIAS holders must comply with the following:

  • Purpose of the trip is leisure and tourism, business, or transit
  • Stay in Spain and/or the rest of the Schengen Area does not exceed 90 days within a 180-day period

When an ETIAS application has been approved, Honduran travelers will be able to simply present their passport upon arrival in Spain. Border security will verify the machine-readable Honduran passbook and check that the traveler has a valid ETIAS Spain authorisation.

Honduran petitioners should complete their ETIAS Spain online form with the following personal, passport, and travel information:

  • Passport country, number, as well as the date of issuance and expiration
  • Full name —exactly as it appears on their Honduran passport
  • Date and place of birth
  • First Schengen country of intended arrival
  • Purpose of the visit
  • Intended arrival date
