ETIAS Spain Requirements for Brazilian Citizens

The new Schengen Visa Waiver system: the European Travel and Information Authorization System (or ETIAS) is scheduled to be launched in 2021. From that date onwards it will be necessary for Brazilian citizens to hold a valid electronic visa waiver before traveling to Spain or any other Schengen member state.

Spain is the 2nd most visited country in the world and annually welcomes 500,000 visitors from Brazil every year. The ETIAS for Spain is intended to simplify the entry of Non-EU visitors into Spain and boost the security of all 26 member states and the Schengen area as a whole. The new system has also been designed to bring in a common policy for EU Schengen member states that will allow even greater numbers of visitants from Brazil.

The ETIAS will be applied for online and must be acquired prior to travel to a Schengen member country from its launch date. You will not be permitted to board an aircraft or ship departing for an EU port of entry without it.

Traveling to Spain From Brazil With an ETIAS

If you intend to travel to Spain for tourism or business from 2021 onwards an ETIAS will be an essential requirement for Brazilian citizens. To acquire one, you will need to fill in an online ETIAS visa waiver application form, submit a few items of personal information and pay a small processing fee.

Once approved you will receive the approved ETIAS directly to your specified email address. After obtaining your ETIAS confirmation you will then need to print it out and present it on entry to Spain when passing through immigration and customs.

This visa waiver will be valid for 3 years (or until the expiration of the passport it is connected to). It will allow visitors a stay in Spain for up to 90 days in a 180 day period. After arriving at your specified port of entry in Spain, you will also be entitled to visit all 25 other Schengen member states.

Requirements for Obtaining an ETIAS for Brazilian Citizens

To apply for an ETIAS for Spain from 2021 and beyond you will need to meet a number of essential ETIAS requirements. These require Brazilian applicants to have up-to-date identity documents, answer a few security and health question and submit a valid method of payment. You will also need to specify where you will enter the Schengen zone from and some employment details.

The main ETIAS requirements for Brazilian citizens are as follows:

  • A valid passport
  • An active email address
  • A method of payment (debit or credit card)

The information you submit will be scanned and checked against EU-wide security databases of organizations such as INTERPOL, VIS, SIS, and EUROPOL in order to manage EU borders better. If you complete your application correctly and meet the minimum requirements your ETIAS Spain for Brazilian citizens will be issued electronically to the email address specified in the application process.

How to Apply for an ETIAS From Brazil

To obtain an ETIAS Spain from Brazil you will need to complete an online application before traveling to a Spanish port of entry. In this form you will need to indicate:

  • Your name and address
  • Your date and place of birth
  • Your country of citizenship
  • A current address
  • Your Brazilian passport number
  • The date of issue and expiry of your passport

When completing the application you must specify that you are entering the EU zone via Spain, and you must, of course, answer all questions honestly or you could be barred from reapplying for an ETIAS in the future. If you have completed the application correctly you should receive your visa waiver within a few minutes, although it is possible it could take up to a few days.
